Why small businesses dont have a website

Statistics show that roughly a third of small businesses in the UK don’t have a website.

Given that those businesses are at an immediate disadvantage, I can only assume that they don’t have one for the following reasons:

  1. The process seems too complex.
  2. The process seems too expensive.
  3. The process will take too long.
  4. The process won’t provide a return on investment.

I totally understand all of the above reasons / concerns.

However with Flexible Web, these are not an issue.

Let’s deal with these one by one.

1. The process seems too complex

Websites CAN indeed be complex beasts.

They can be set up in confusing, complex, non-intuituve ways that make using them a chore.

Small business owners also worry that they require technical skills in order to maintain their site.

With Flexible Web, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Firstly you do not require any technical skills.  Just the ability to be able to type and to upload images.

My websites really are that simple.

By the end of the day, you’ll feel confident that you can create and update pages.  You’ll be excited to do so because you know it will be simple.

2. The process seems too expensive

Like anything, when there are vast differences between prices for a product or service, it is inevitable that confusion is created.

Is the cheaper website any good?

Is the really expensive site worth the money?

With Flexible Web, there is just one price.

This is a fair price that represents value for money and gives you a powerful website.

3. The process will take too long

I’ve worked on websites that drag on and on.

Requirements change and new functionality is needed.

That’s absolutely fine and is at the website owners discretion.

Honestly though, the biggest problem with a website going live is content.

It seems easy right, but when you get down to it, this is a time consuming task.

Due to the my sites work, you don’t necessarily have to have all your content up front.

You can start with a simple site and build on it as and when you see fit.

Yes it’s great to have everything up from the beginning but actually it’s more important to establish your online presence as early as possible.

From there you can build until your hearts content.

4. The process won’t provide a return on investment

Websites generate money.

That’s why people use them.

Gone are the days of looking in the directories posted through your front door.

People take to the web and Google in particular to find products and services that they are looking for.

Given the price of my websites, it’s very quick to do a quick calculation and see how many enquiries / sales you need in order to recoup your cost.
